HUMOR POP ARTIST NELSON DE LA NUEZ THE LONG AWAITED DE LA
NUEZ STUDIOS: A VIP CELEBRITY FILLED GRANDNG PARTY WILL TAKE
PLACE IN AUGUST
SIMI VALLEY, CA - June 30, 2004 - Pop
Artist Nelson De La Nuez has reason to celebrate. He has recentlyd the much anticipated De La Nuez Studios in Simi Valley, CA,
which will be featured in an upcoming HGTV episode of Designers
Challenge, tentatively scheduled to air in September or October
2004. In addition, teNeues Publishing Co. has published two
calendars (2005 & 2006) and an upscale boxed note card set. The
artist is officially announcing the studiong with a VIP
party planned for August 21, 2004 at his studio.
De La Nuez Studios is as fun and whimsical as his artwork, with
his bright canvases hanging on the walls and a full size Bobs Big
Boy grinning in the corner. He creates in his studio, while his
clients make appointments to come buy and purchase the one of a
kind pieces. De La Nuez has become one of the top selling artists
on almost all of the major cruise ship art auctions. A few of the
ships youll find his work on include Princess, Carnival, Holland
America, Cunard, Costa and more. As a result, he has collectors
and fans all over the world. His bright pop culture and humorous
artwork appeal to a broad range of people.
His kick-off party will include pop culture goodie bags for his
VIP clients and live performers on the way in. He hopes people
will enjoy taking a look inside the studio and help him celebrate
one of many successes. Among his collectors on the invitation list
are such names as comedians Jonathan Winters and Howie Mandel,
actresses Shannon Elizabeth and Carrie Fisher, radio legend Gary
Owens and many more including directors, screenwriters and
producers. The entertainment industry welcomes his work as a
breath of fresh air. Such heavy hitters as Steven Spielberg,
stopped by Raw Style, a Santa Monica gallery on trendy Montana
Avenue to admire a De La Nuez piece entitled, The Kiss, which he
wanted to purchase for his daughters birthday.
HGTVs Designers Challenge show is featuring the artists work
in his new studio in an upcoming episode most likely to air in
September or October. A client of mine (screenwriter Elisa Bell-Geddes
of Little Black Book & Sleepover films) had the show design
her master bedroom and bathroom around two of my pieces, Just Add
Milk and Those Were the Days. They are both fun and nostalgic with
images of everything from vintage cereal characters to classic t.v.
show favorites and the candy you recall eating in the 50s and
60s, says De La Nuez.
Most of the pop art can be purchased online at his website,
http://www.popcultureart.com He also has celebrity photos and
updates of events on the site. Even before the artist became
well-known for his pop art style, people loved him for his
offbeat, comical, irreverent art that can be found on his other
website
http://www.delanuez.com. I create humor by combining popular
culture and kitsch with art history, politics and religion to
hopefully make people think and laugh all at once, he comments.
Party goers can expect to see some of both styles at his grandng. What makes viewing the art an experience is that I have
short stories and background commentaries explaining the
individual pieces. I want people to feel as though they are really
interacting with my art, rather than just staring at it, explains
the artist.
His boxed note card set contains 20 cards with five different
images and is in stores now and is also sold on his
http://www.delanuez.com website. The 2004 calendar is being
released in August and will be carried by many stores, including
Borders, Vromans and Tower. A calendar signing will be set to
coincide with its release. His art is currently sold in galleries
throughout the world and is offered as signed prints or one of a
kind pieces on canvas.
The grandng party is by invitation only, but if people would
like to get on the list, please contact: Stacy Bell:
