The Potential Clinical Applications of Xenotransplantation a
cutting-edge lecture
London, UK. 22nd September 2003 - On the 6th October, the London
Surgical Society will host a controversial and thought provoking
lecture on the cutting-edge clinical applications of
xenotransplantation (the use of animal organs and cells in
humans). This will be given by Professor David Cooper from the
Transplantation Biology Research Centre, Harvard University,
Boston. This will take place at 6.00pm in New Hunts House, Guys
Campus, Kings College London.
A transcript of the lecture will be published in the next issue of
The Journal of Surgery - with which the society is affiliated and
this will be published on the 1st October. The Journal of Surgery
is a peer-reviewed international journal for the advancement of
surgery and has obtained exclusive rights to the publication of
the transcript.
This is the first of a series of innovative and intellectually
stimulating events focusing on the discipline of surgery and
organized by the London Surgical Society. The aim of the society
is to provide a broad range of educational activities and
opportunities for surgeons, academics, trainees and students.
Furthermore, a selection of meetings have a more generic public
interest value. The society offers a perfect medium for the
exchange of information and ideas on the practice and organization
of surgery.
