Having spent years as one of the most sought-after soundtracks among record collectors, Get Carter is being released on CD for the first time. Issued on the Castle Communications label, this 23 track collection was previously only available on vinyl in Japan.
The bulk of the music was written and performed by renowned British jazz pianist Roy Budd. The music falls somewhere between cool jazz and trance techno and has been incredibly popular with club DJ's who have been spinning many of the album's cuts in dance clubs for years. This CD reissue includes five previously unheard tracks plus extensive liner notes by the film's director Mike Hodges.
Get Carter the movie, which was released in 1971, starred Michael Caine as a London-based gangster returning home to Northern England after the death of his brother. American audiences may remember the Blaxploitation remake the following year titled Hitman.
